Simparica Trio Main Uses
Simparica Trio is formulated for dogs & puppies to provide triple protection against heartworm disease, ticks & fleas, roundworms & hookworms.
Health conditions supported:
Prevents heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis).
Treats and prevents flea infestations and eliminates multiple tick species including those transmitting Lyme disease.
Treats and controls intestinal parasites: roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) and hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala).
 
Simparica Trio Active Ingredients:
Sarolaner (isoxazoline class) : Kills fleas and ticks by inhibiting parasite nervous system GABA and glutamate receptors, causing paralysis and death.
Moxidectin (macrocyclic lactone) : Prevents heartworm (kills larvae) and acts against intestinal worms by disrupting their nerve transmission through chloride channel modulation, causing paralysis and death.
Pyrantel pamoate (tetrahydropyrimidine class) : Immobilizes roundworms and hookworms by paralyzing their nervous system, allowing expulsion in the feces.
 
Simparica Trio Dosage & Administration
Recommended dosage: 1 chewable tablet by mouth, once monthly, dosed by body weight. Specific strengths exist for different weight ranges.
Minimum age/weight: For dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age and older, ≥2.8 lbs (1.3 kg).
Administration: Give with or without food; ensure dog consumes the whole chew.
Adjustments: Use appropriate tablet strength based on current body weight.

Simparica Trio Purple 2.6 to 5 kg
Simparica Trio Caramel 5.1 to 10 kg
Simparica Trio Blue 10.1 to 20 kg

Simparica Trio Safety & Side Effects
Common side effects: Vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, decreased appetite.
Rare side effects: Neurological reactions (tremors, ataxia, seizures), especially in dogs with previous seizure history; consult your veterinarian if observed.
Safety warnings:
Use caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders (contains isoxazoline).
Not evaluated for safety in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs.
Prior to administration, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections. Simparica Trio is not effective against adult heartworms (Dirofilaria immitis); infected dogs should be treated appropriately at the discretion of the veterinarian before starting Simparica Trio.
