NexGard Spectra Main Uses:
the treatment and control of flea (Ctenocephalides felis) infestations,
the treatment and control of Dermacentor variabilis (American Dog Ticks), Ixodes scapularis (Blacklegged Ticks), and Amblyomma americanum (Lone Star Ticks),
the treatment of demodicosis caused by Demodex canis
the prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis),
the treatment and control of intestinal nematode infections caused by adult hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum), adult roundworms (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina) and adult whipworms (Trichuris vulpis);
the reduction of Borrelia burgdorferi infections as a direct result of killing adult Ixodes scapularis vector ticks.
 
NexGard Spectra Active ingredients:
Afoxolaner: Kills adult fleas and ticks by interfering with their nervous system, leading to paralysis and death.
Milbemycin Oxime: Broad-spectrum antiparasitic for prevention/treatment of heartworm and intestinal worms by disrupting nerve transmission in parasites.
After oral administration, these ingredients circulate in the bloodstream, targeting and killing/inhibiting parasites either upon contact (for external parasites) or after ingestion (for internal worms).
 
NexGard Spectra Dosage & Administration
Based on body weight
Orange : XSmall Dogs 2 - 3.7kg
Yellow : Small Dogs 3.8 - 7.5kg
Green : Medium Dogs 7.6 - 15kg
Purple : Large Dogs 15.1 - 30kg
Red : XLarge Dogs 30.1 - 60kg
Administered once monthly as a chewable tablet for dogs
Chewables can be given with or without food, but ensure full tablet is ingested.
Minimum age is 8 weeks; weight ≥2 kg
 
NexGard Spectra Safety & Side Effects
Side effects: Includes vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite; generally mild and transient.
Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders (isoxazoline class warning).
Not evaluated for safety in dogs less than 8 weeks old or below minimum weight.
