Revolution for Dogs Active Ingredients
Selamectin: a macrocyclic lactone endectocide that targets glutamate-gated chloride channels in susceptible parasites, leading to paralysis and death of parasites.
How it works: After topical application, selamectin is absorbed systemically to protect against internal parasites (heartworm larvae) and redistributes to the skin to act against ectoparasites like fleas and mites, providing month-long coverage with one dose.
 
Revolution for Dogs Dosage & Administration
Species/age: For dogs and puppies 6 weeks of age and older; dosing is weight-based using colour-coded tubes.
Frequency: Apply once every month, on the same date each month, year-round in heartworm-risk regions or as advised by a veterinarian.
Dogs dosing table (use weight to select package color and tube strength; potency 120 mg/mL unless noted):
2.6–5.0 kg: Purple, 30 mg/tube, 120 mg/mL, 0.25 mL.
5.1–10.0 kg: Brown, 60 mg/tube, 120 mg/mL, 0.5 mL.
10.1–20.0 kg: Red, 120 mg/tube, 120 mg/mL, 1.0 mL.
20.1–40.0 kg: Aqua, 240 mg/tube, 120 mg/mL, 2.0 mL.
40.1–60.0 kg: Plum, 360 mg/tube, 120 mg/mL, 3.0 mL;
for dogs >60 kg, use appropriate combination of tubes.
How to apply: Part hair to skin at the base of the neck/shoulder blades and empty entire tube contents onto skin; ensure skin contact (not on hair coat) and avoid bathing within a short window as per label.
Missed dose: Give as soon as remembered, then resume monthly schedule; do not double dose; if multiple doses missed in heartworm season, consult veterinarian about heartworm testing before restarting.
 
Revolution for Dogs Side Effects & Safety
Common side effects: Mild, transient skin irritation or hair loss at application site; occasional gastrointestinal upset has been reported.
Serious risks: In dogs already infected with heartworms, rapid microfilarial/larval die-off can cause weakness, respiratory signs, collapse, or rarely fatal reactions, heartworm testing prior to use is recommended in risk areas and after missed doses.
Handling: No gloves required; wash hands after application; separation from household members generally not required once dry
