⚠️ Important Shipping & Storage Information

  • Prozinc requires refrigeration. Each order is carefully packed with an insulated kit and ice packs to help maintain temperature. We offer same-day delivery for local orders. Non-local orders are shipped by expedited service to minimize transit time, and an additional shipping fee applies for temperature-controlled packaging and priority handling.

  • However, despite these precautions, there remains a risk of temperature excursion during transit delays. Please note that we are unable to refund or replace products that require refrigeration.

  • Important: To prevent temperature-sensitive products from being held in courier warehouses over the weekend, refrigerated items will not be shipped on Thursdays or Fridays. Orders containing such items will be shipped the following Monday to ensure product integrity.

ProZinc Insulin Main Uses

  • Helps control blood glucose (hyperglycemia) and its associated signs in cats and dogs with diabetes mellitus.
  • A long-acting insulin used for ongoing, day-to-day management of diabetes under veterinary supervision.

ProZinc Insulin Active Ingredients

  • Protamine zinc recombinant human insulin, 40 IU/mL (U-40): a long-acting insulin suspension.
  • Mechanism of Action: Insulin promotes the uptake and use of glucose by body tissues while reducing glucose production by the liver. The protamine zinc formulation slows absorption, providing a prolonged duration of action.

ProZinc Insulin Dosage & Administration

  • Use a U-40 insulin syringe only; using any other syringe will result in incorrect dosing. Give by subcutaneous injection, with or right after a meal.
  • The starting dose and dosing frequency are determined by your veterinarian based on your pet's weight, blood glucose measurements, and clinical response.
  • Gently roll the vial between your palms before each dose until the suspension is uniformly cloudy. Do not shake vigorously. Do not use if clumps or particles remain.
  • If a dose is missed, give the next dose as scheduled. Never give an extra dose to make up for a missed one, and always follow your veterinarian's instructions.

ProZinc Insulin Safety & Side Effects

  • The most important risk is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), which can occur even at the prescribed dose or after an overdose. Mild signs may include weakness, depression, behavioural changes, muscle twitching, and anxiety. Severe hypoglycemia can progress to seizures, coma, or death if not treated promptly.
  • Do not use during an episode of hypoglycemia or in animals sensitive to the ingredients. Regular veterinary monitoring of blood glucose is essential.
  • Avoid contact with your eyes; accidental self-injection can cause low blood sugar, so seek medical attention if it occurs.
  • Storage: store upright and refrigerated at 2 to 8°C, do not freeze, and protect from light. Use the 10 mL vial within 60 days of first puncture.
