ProZinc Syringe Main Uses
- U-40 Calibrated for ProZinc Insulin: Specifically calibrated for U-40 insulin (40 IU/mL), the concentration used in ProZinc. The unit markings on the barrel correspond directly to the units of insulin drawn, with no dose conversion required.
- Critical Compatibility Warning: U-40 and U-100 syringes are not interchangeable. Use of a syringe other than a U-40 syringe with ProZinc insulin will result in incorrect dosing. Always confirm the syringe type matches the insulin concentration prescribed by your veterinarian.
- Pack Contents: 120 sterile, single-use syringes packaged in 12 polybags of 10 syringes each, individually sealed for sterility and ease of storage.
- Latex-free syringes for safe handling.

ProZinc Syringe How It Works
- Injection route: Subcutaneous injection only. Administer on the back of the neck or on the side of the cat or dog, as directed by your veterinarian.
- Preparing the dose:
- Gently roll the ProZinc vial before each use to mix — do not shake or agitate
- Once mixed, ProZinc has a white, cloudy appearance
- Do not use if clumps or visible white particles persist after gently rolling
- Using a U-40 syringe, draw insulin slowly to the prescribed unit mark
- Check for air bubbles; tap the syringe gently and expel before injecting
- Single-use only: Each syringe is sterile and intended for one injection only. Do not reuse or sterilize.
ProZinc Syringe Dosage & Administration
- Dosing frequency: Insulin is typically administered once or twice daily as directed by your veterinarian. The specific ProZinc dose is determined by your veterinarian based on your pet's weight, blood glucose curves, and clinical response.
- Injection site: Administer on the back of the neck or on the side of the cat or dog. Give concurrently with or right after a meal.
- Injection site rotation: Alternate injection sites with each dose to prevent skin thickening at repeated sites.
- Missed dose: Contact your veterinarian before adjusting or skipping doses. Do not double-dose without veterinary guidance.
- Sharps disposal: Place used syringes directly into an approved sharps disposal container. Do not place loose needles in household garbage. Contact your local pharmacy, municipal waste program, or veterinary clinic for sharps disposal options in Canada.
ProZinc Syringe Safety & Side Effects
- Accidental self-injection: If accidental injection occurs in a human, seek immediate medical attention. Insulin can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), with symptoms including dizziness, sweating, confusion, and loss of consciousness.
- Needle safety: Place used syringes directly into a sharps container immediately after use to avoid needlestick injury.
- Do not reuse needles: Reused needles lose sharpness, increasing injection discomfort and the risk of infection at the injection site.
- Inspect before use: Do not use syringes if the packaging is damaged, the needle appears bent, or the barrel is cracked.
- For animal use only. Keep out of reach of children.
- Storage: Store in a clean, dry place at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
