Caninsulin requires refrigeration. Each order is carefully packed with an insulated kit and ice packs to help maintain temperature. We offer same-day delivery for local orders. Non-local orders are shipped by expedited service to minimize transit time, and an additional shipping fee applies for temperature-controlled packaging and priority handling.
However, despite these precautions, there remains a risk of temperature excursion during transit. In the event of courier delays, Lantus is stable at room temperature (below 25°C) for up to 28 days (as per manufacturer). Please note that we are unable to refund or replace products that require refrigeration.
Important: To prevent temperature-sensitive products from being held in courier warehouses over the weekend, refrigerated items will not be shipped on Thursdays or Fridays. Orders containing such items will be shipped the following Monday to ensure product integrity.
 
Lantus Insulin Main Uses
Used under veterinary direction to help manage diabetes mellitus in cats and dogs by lowering elevated blood glucose levels.
Insulin therapy can help control common signs of diabetes, including increased thirst, increased urination, increased appetite, and weight loss.
Insulin glargine U-100 is a commonly used insulin option for cats with diabetes mellitus.
 
Lantus Insulin Active Ingredients
Insulin glargine 100 units/mL (U-100): a long-acting human insulin analogue used extra-label in cats and dogs under veterinary direction.
Mechanism of Action: after subcutaneous injection, insulin glargine forms microprecipitates from which small amounts of insulin glargine are slowly released, providing a prolonged glucose-lowering effect.
 
Lantus Insulin Dosage & Administration
The dose and dosing frequency are individualized by your veterinarian based on your pet's condition and response to treatment. Do not change the dose without veterinary guidance.
Administer by subcutaneous injection as directed by your veterinarian.
Use U-100 insulin syringes only (sold separately) to ensure accurate dosing.
Do not confuse the 10 mL vial with the Lantus SoloStar prefilled pen.
If a dose is missed or you are unsure whether a dose was given, contact your veterinarian for instructions rather than giving an extra dose.
 
Lantus Insulin Safety & Side Effects
The most important potential adverse effect of insulin is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Signs can include weakness, unsteadiness, unusual behaviour, tremors, or collapse. Seek veterinary attention promptly if hypoglycemia is suspected.
Injection-site or allergic reactions may occur.
Store unopened vials refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze and do not use insulin that has been frozen.
Protect from direct heat and light. Follow the product instructions and your veterinarian's guidance regarding storage and duration of use after opening.
Use a new, appropriate syringe for each injection and do not share syringes between pets.
Keep out of reach of children.
