Deramaxx Main Uses
- Relief of pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic surgery in dogs.
- Management of chronic pain and lameness associated with osteoarthritis in dogs.
- Relief of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with dental surgery in dogs.
Deramaxx Active Ingredients
- Deracoxib: Deracoxib is a selective COX-2 inhibitor; it preferentially inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), the enzyme responsible for prostaglandin synthesis in inflamed tissues, while sparing COX-1 at therapeutic doses.
- Mechanism of Action: Deracoxib inhibits COX-2-mediated prostaglandin E2 production, reducing the chemical signals that produce pain, swelling, and inflammation at the site of injury or joint disease. By selectively targeting COX-2, Deramaxx reduces the gastrointestinal side effects more commonly seen with non-selective NSAIDs, though GI and renal monitoring remains important during long-term use.
