Advantage II Main Uses

  • Flea Prevention and Treatment: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) on dogs and puppies.
  • Life Cycle Control: Effectively breaks the flea life cycle by killing adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae.
  • Lice Treatment: Treatment of lice infestations on dogs.
  • Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD): Used as part of a treatment strategy to manage FAD by rapidly reducing flea bites.

Advantage II Active Ingredients

  • Imidacloprid (9.1%): An adulticide that targets the flea's central nervous system. It causes overstimulation of the nerves, leading to paralysis and death of the adult flea upon contact.
  • Pyriproxyfen (0.46%): An Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) that mimics juvenile growth hormones. It prevents flea eggs from hatching and keeps larvae from molting into pupae or adults.
  • Mechanism of Action: This is a "contact" treatment. The active ingredients spread across the pet’s skin through the lipid (oil) layer. Parasites are killed when they touch the treated hair or skin; they do not need to bite the dog to be affected.
