Indirect prevention of flea tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum) infection by killing fleas, reducing transmission risk to cats
 
Revolution PLUS Active Ingredients
Selamectin: a macrocyclic lactone that disrupts neurotransmission in susceptible parasites, leading to paralysis and death; effective against heartworm larvae, fleas, ear mites, and certain nematodes in cats.
Sarolaner: an isoxazoline ectoparasiticide that overexcites parasite nervous systems (GABA/glutamate-gated channels), killing fleas and ticks to expand tick coverage in cats.
How it works:
Selamectin applied topically is absorbed systemically, providing activity against heartworm larvae and tissue-dwelling/intestinal parasites while also impacting fleas and mites.
Sarolaner provides systemic rapid kill of fleas and labeled tick species for a full monthly interval, complementing selamectin for broader ectoparasite control.
 
Revolution PLUS Dosage & Administration
Dosing: Administer the entire contents of the single-use pipette topically once monthly; product is weight-banded to match cat weight ranges.
The recommended minimum dosage is 6 mg selamectin per kg (2.7 mg/lb) of body weight and 1 mg sarolaner per kg (0.45 mg/lb) of body weight.
Dosage Schedule (cats/kittens ≥8 weeks and ≥1.27 kg/2.8 lb; apply topically once every 30 days):
1.3–2.5 kg (2.8–5.5 lb): Tube volume 0.25 mL; contents per tube: selamectin 15 mg, sarolaner 2.5 mg.
2.6–5.0 kg (5.6–11.0 lb): Tube volume 0.50 mL; contents per tube: selamectin 30 mg, sarolaner 5.0 mg.
5.1–10.0 kg (11.1–22.0 lb): Tube volume 1.00 mL; contents per tube: selamectin 60 mg, sarolaner 10.0 mg.
Over 10 kg (>22 lb): Use an appropriate combination of tubes to achieve the minimum dose per kg.
 
Revolution PLUS Side Effects & Safety
Common side effects: Transient decreased appetite and drowsiness; topical site effects are uncommon but possible as with spot-ons.
Precautions: Use with caution in cats with a history of neurological disorders due to isoxazoline class warnings; evaluate concurrent use with other parasite preventatives to avoid duplicative therapy.
Contraindications/warnings: Safety in kittens under 8 weeks, breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats for Revolution PLUS had not been established. Do not use in or in underweight/sick cats.
