Metacam Oral Suspension for Cats Main Uses

  • Metacam Oral Suspension for Cats is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation following surgery (such as spay, neuter, or declaw procedures) and for the treatment of pain associated with acute, mild to moderate musculoskeletal conditions in cats.

Metacam Oral Suspension for Cats Active Ingredients

  • The active ingredient is meloxicam (0.5 mg/mL), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID).
  • The formulation is a yellowish viscous suspension with the odor of honey.
  • Meloxicam works by inhibiting the cell's production of chemicals that trigger inflammation. It lowers inflammatory pain and swelling associated with osteoarthritis; results in improved mobility and reduced lameness.

  • Initial Dose (Acute/Chronic): Typically a single dose of 0.1 mg/kg on the first day of treatment.

  • Administration: Must be given orally, either directly into the mouth or mixed with food.
  • Dosing Tools: Use a drop dispenser (0.017 mg/drop) for cats of any weight, or the provided Metacam® Oral Suspension for Cats measuring syringe (scaled in kg) for cats weighing at least 2 kg. Always shake well before use.
