⚠️ Important Shipping & Storage Information
Librela requires refrigeration. Each order is carefully packed with an insulated kit and ice packs to help maintain temperature. We offer same-day delivery for local orders. Non-local orders are shipped by expedited service to minimize transit time, and an additional shipping fee applies for temperature-controlled packaging and priority handling.
Despite these precautions, there remains a risk of temperature excursion during transit delays. Please note that we are unable to refund or replace products that require refrigeration.
Important: To prevent temperature-sensitive products from being held in courier warehouses over the weekend, refrigerated items will not be shipped on Thursdays or Fridays. Orders containing such items will be shipped the following Monday to ensure product integrity.
Solensia Main Uses
- Osteoarthritis (OA) Pain Control: Specifically indicated for the alleviation of chronic pain associated with osteoarthritis in cats.
- Mobility Improvement: Helps improve the cat's ability to jump, run, and climb by reducing the debilitating pain signals in the joints.
- Quality of Life Support: Targeted at senior cats or those with long-term joint wear to restore normal grooming and activity behaviors.
Solensia Active Ingredients
- Frunevetmab (7 mg/mL): A felinized therapeutic monoclonal antibody (mAb) designed specifically for cats.
- Mechanism of Action: NGF is a protein produced by the body in response to tissue damage or inflammation; it is a key driver of chronic pain. Frunevetmab binds to and neutralizes NGF, preventing it from attaching to receptors on pain-signaling nerves. This "interrupts" the pain cycle before it reaches the brain.
- Metabolism: Unlike traditional drugs (NSAIDs), it is a biologic that is broken down into small peptides and amino acids via normal protein catabolic pathways, with minimal involvement of the liver or kidneys.
Solensia Dosage & Administration
- Route of Administration: Given strictly via subcutaneous (under the skin) injection by a licensed veterinarian.
- Recommended Dosage: The nominal dose is 1.0 mg/kg of body weight.
- Weight-Based Dosing:
- 2.5–7.0 kg (5.5–15.4 lbs): 1 vial (1 mL).
- 7.1–14.0 kg (15.5–30.8 lbs): 2 vials (2 mL).
- Frequency: Administered once monthly.
- Onset of Action: While some cats show improvement within 3 weeks, it may take two consecutive monthly injections to reach a "steady state" and provide maximum pain reduction.
Solensia Side Effects & Safety
- Common Side Effects: The most frequently reported reactions include vomiting, diarrhea, and injection site pain.
- Skin Reactions: Mild, focal skin reactions such as scabbing on the head and neck, dermatitis (irritated skin), and pruritus (itching) have been observed.
- Safety Warnings:
- Contraindications: Do not use in cats under 12 months of age or under 2.5 kg.
- Breeding/Pregnancy: Do not use in breeding cats or those that are pregnant or lactating.
- User Safety: Humans who are pregnant or trying to conceive should exercise extreme caution; accidental self-injection can potentially harm a developing fetus.
- IRIS Stage 3 & 4 Kidney Disease: Safety has not been specifically studied in cats with advanced kidney disease; use is based on a veterinarian's benefit-risk assessment.
