Behavioral Relaxation: Promotes calm and relaxed behavior in pets during both short-term stressful events and long-term situational changes.
Situational Stressors: Used to help pets cope with specific triggers such as travel, thunderstorms, fireworks, visits to the veterinarian or groomer, and kennel boarding.

Zylkene Active Ingredients
Active Ingredient: Alpha-S1 Tryptic Casein (also known as Alpha-casozepine).
Role and Mechanism: A natural bioactive peptide derived from bovine milk protein. It was originally discovered by scientists observing the natural relaxation of newborns after breastfeeding. It works by modulating the Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) system, the brain's primary inhibitory neurotransmitter. It binds to the benzodiazepine site on GABA-A receptors, which "puts the brakes" on neural excitability and produces a calming effect without the side effects of prescription sedative drugs.
 
Zylkene Dosage & Administration
Dosage Range: Based on weight and the strength of the capsule (75 mg, 225 mg, or 450 mg):
Cats and Small Dogs (< 5 kg): 1 capsule (75 mg) daily.
Cats and Small Dogs (5–10 kg): 2 capsules (75 mg) daily.
Medium Dogs (10–15 kg): 1 capsule (225 mg) daily.
Large Dogs (15–30 kg): 1 capsule (450 mg) daily.
Large Dogs (>30kg): 2 capsules (450 mg) daily.
Administration: The daily dose can be given as a single administration or divided into two feedings.
Timing:
Short-term use: Begin administration 1–2 days before the anticipated stressful event. Some animals may need earlier administration (5-7 days)
Long-term use: Use daily for 1–2 months, then reassess the pet's behavior.
Method: Capsules can be given whole or opened, and the palatable, water-soluble powder can be mixed directly into food or a treat.

Side Effects: There are no known common side effects. It is non-sedating, non-addictive, and does not cause drowsiness or personality changes. Rare anecdotal reports of mild diarrhea have occurred, often associated with a change in diet or new oral supplement.
