Zylkene Main Uses
- Behavioral Relaxation: Promotes calm and relaxed behavior in pets during both short-term stressful events and long-term situational changes.
- Situational Stressors: Used to help pets cope with specific triggers such as travel, thunderstorms, fireworks, visits to the veterinarian or groomer, and kennel boarding.
- Environmental Adaptation: Assists pets in adjusting to new environments or routine changes, such as moving to a new home, the arrival of a new baby/pet, or weaning.
Zylkene Active Ingredients
- Active Ingredient: Alpha-S1 Tryptic Casein (also known as Alpha-casozepine).
- Role and Mechanism: A natural bioactive peptide derived from bovine milk protein. It was originally discovered by scientists observing the natural relaxation of newborns after breastfeeding. It works by modulating the Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) system, the brain's primary inhibitory neurotransmitter. It binds to the benzodiazepine site on GABA-A receptors, which "puts the brakes" on neural excitability and produces a calming effect without the side effects of prescription sedative drugs.
