For-Bid Main Uses

  • Stool Eating (Coprophagia) Deterrent: For-Bid is an oral food additive that deters dogs, cats, and horses from consuming their own feces, a behaviour known as coprophagia.
  • Behavioural Retraining Aid: Works as a training aid by making the animal's stool unpalatable upon tasting, helping the animal learn to avoid its feces over a short treatment course.
  • Multi-animal Households: When a dog is eating stool from another dog or from a cat's litter box, For-Bid must be fed to all animals involved, as the deterrent effect applies only to the stool of the animal that ingested the product.

For-Bid Active Ingredients

  • Ingredients: Wheat, Gluten, and Monosodium Glutamate (MSG).
  • How it works: For-Bid is a highly purified crystalline edible protein fraction that, when mixed with food and ingested, imparts a forbidden and unpalatable taste to the animal's feces. It is not an enzyme and does not alter the animal's normal digestive process, nor does it alter the taste or scent of the food it is added to.

For-Bid Dosage & Administration

  • Form: Tasteless, odourless fine powder in individual 8g packets. Sprinkle directly onto the animal's food.
  • Initial treatment (5 days):
    • Small dogs and puppies 3 - 20 lbs: 1/4 packet twice daily for 5 days.
    • Medium and large dogs 20 to 100 lbs: 1/2 packet twice daily for 5-6 days.
    • Cats: 1/4 packet once daily for 5 days
  • Maintenance (if behaviour returns): Sprinkle a small pinch (approximately 1 gram) onto food once daily for 2 to 3 weeks, or until behaviour stops.
  • If behaviour does not resolve after 3 weeks: Consult your veterinarian, as underlying medical or behavioural causes may need to be addressed.
  • Environmental tip: Consistent and prompt stool pickup reduces the opportunity for the behaviour to recur and supports For-Bid treatment.

For-Bid Safety & Side Effects

  • Does not alter digestion: For-Bid will not alter the consistency or colour of the animal's stool. If stool changes are observed, consult your veterinarian.
  • Steroid use: Steroids may counteract the intended effects of For-Bid.
  • Special dietary needs or medical issues: Consult your veterinarian before using For-Bid.
  • Overfeeding: Undigested food in the feces can drive coprophagia regardless of For-Bid use. Ensure the animal is not being overfed.
  • For animal use only. Keep out of reach of children.
