Denosyl® Main Uses
Supports hepatic (liver) health in dogs and cats, when diagnosed with liver disease, elevated liver enzymes, or liver dysfunction.
Used to increase hepatic glutathione levels, which helps maintain and protect liver function by acting as a primary antioxidant.
 
Denosyl® Active Ingredients
Contains S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) as the primary active ingredient.
SAMe works by increasing glutathione levels in the liver, aiding detoxification, supporting cellular repair, and reducing oxidative stress.
Has a potential positive role in mitigating liver damage and supporting brain health due to its antioxidant and neuroprotective properties.
 
Denosyl® Dosage & Administration
Typical dosage: calculated as 20 mg/kg body weight, specific dose per animal should be determined by a veterinarian.
For cats (Denosyl 90 mg):
Up to 12 lbs (up to 5.5 kg): 1 tablet daily.
Over 12 lbs (up to 5.5 kg): 2 tablet daily.
For small dogs (Denosyl 90 mg):
Up to 12 lbs (up to 5.5 kg): 1 tablet daily.
For medium dogs (Denosyl 225 mg):
13 to 34 lbs (6 to 15.5 kg): 1 tablet daily.
For large dogs (Denosyl 425 mg):
35 to 65 lbs (16 to 29.5 kg): 1 tablet daily.
66 to 120 lbs (30 to 54.5 kg): 2 tablets daily.
Over 120 lbs (over 54.5 kg): 3 tablets daily.
Should be administered on an empty stomach for optimal absorption, either at least one hour before feeding or two hours after.
Tablet should be be swallowed whole to prevent damage to the enteric coating, and may be followed by 3-6 cc of water to aid passage into the stomach, especially for cats.
 
Denosyl® Safety & Side Effects
Generally well tolerated.
Tablets are moisture-sensitive and should be kept in blister packaging until administration.
Should only be used under veterinary guidance; some pets may only require short-term use, though long-term use is sometimes recommended for chronic conditions.
