Otizole Main Uses

  • Indicated for treating otitic and dermal infections caused by pathogens sensitive to miconazole nitrate or polymyxin B sulfate, along with associated inflammation
  • Common clinical uses include otitis externa in dogs, ear mite (Otodectes cynotis)– associated otitis in cats, allergic dermatitis in dogs, fungal infections caused by Microsporum canis, bacterial dermatitis, and non‑specific dermatitis in dogs and cats.

 

Otizole Active Ingredients

  • Miconazole nitrate (23 mg/mL): Antifungal agent that eliminates fungal organisms such as yeast and molds in the ears and on skin
  • Polymyxin B sulfate (0.5293 mg/mL): Antibacterial agent that targets bacteria responsible for ear and skin infections
  • Prednisolone acetate (5 mg/mL): Corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and itching associated with infections

 

Otizole Dosage & Administration

  • Available in 15 mL, 30 mL, and 100 mL formats
  • Administration guidance: Shake well; clean the ear canal before instillation for otitis externa; apply per veterinarian’s instructions to affected ear(s) or skin.

 

Otizole Side Effects & Safety

  • This is a prescription-only medication requiring veterinary oversight
  • Should be stored at 15-30°C, protected from freezing and light
  • Contains a corticosteroid (prednisolone acetate), which may have contraindications for certain health conditions requiring veterinary evaluation
